Nicolo Amati, grandson of Andrea, son of Girolamo and nephew of Antonio, raised the standard of excellence of this fabulous family of violin-makers from Cremona to the highest level of the craft.

In my opinion, these instruments are esthetically the most perfect violins of the Baroque period. 

This particular cello is totally born of this esthetic, as applied to today's cellos, capable of handling all ranges of repertoire, from Baroque to contemporary music.
